About The Oakland Press

Stay informed with local news delivered in a local news app designed for busy readers who want personalized content without the clutter. The Oakland Press brings you breaking stories, in-depth reporting, and community coverage tailored to your interests—all in a redesigned, faster Android experience.

Take control of what you read. The new "Your News" tab lets you customize topics and follow subjects that matter most to you. Instead of scrolling through everything published, you'll see articles aligned with your preferences. Follow topics at the article level, and related stories will appear more frequently in your feed. Unfollow just as easily if your interests change.

Never miss a story with smart push notifications. Choose exactly which topics trigger alerts, so you get updates on what you care about—without the noise of irrelevant notifications. Your saved articles can be bookmarked for later reading, and push reminders will prompt you to return to content you've flagged.

Experience the newspaper like you remember it. Open the digital replica of today's paper directly in the app through E-News in Settings—no need for a separate application. Swipe left to browse more articles within a section without navigating back to the main page, keeping your reading flow smooth and uninterrupted.

Stay connected offline. Enable offline reading from Settings to access saved content anywhere, anytime, even without an internet connection. Customize your offline reading preferences to suit your habits.

Take a break between stories with in-app games. Enjoy classic puzzles and word games including Sudoku, Solitaire, Jumble, Crossword, and various brain teasers—all without leaving the app.

Subscribers should log in after updating to restore account access and ensure uninterrupted service. Tap "Restore Subscriptions" in Settings under Subscriptions to reactivate your membership. The Oakland Press is optimized for speed and ease of use, giving you more control over your news experience than ever before.
